Dutchview I.T. recently hosted a lively and interactive Buffer Day in Deventer and Bangalore, focused on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Annelies, Clara, Jyothi, Kishore, and Kristiyan organised this event to help employees learn more about CSR through a series of engaging activities.

The importance of CSR

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a key aspect of modern business practices, involving companies in making positive contributions to society and the environment. CSR activities include ethical labour practices, environmental sustainability, and community engagement. At Dutchview, CSR is a core value, demonstrating our commitment to positively impacting society and the environment. We actively participate in CSR initiatives both in the Netherlands and India, reflecting our global approach to responsibility and sustainable development.

"The Buffer Day was inspiring and fun, reinforcing our commitment to positive impact."

Assembling bikes

In Bangalore, a group of our dedicated colleagues came together to assemble two bikes for children in need. With a sense of teamwork and community spirit, they carefully brought the bikes to life. The project wasn’t just about assembling bikes; it was about making a difference, creating smiles, and fostering a sense of unity within the team as they contributed to a meaningful cause.

Tactile cards

After that, the colleagues in Bangalore participated in a heartwarming activity where they each created tactile cards for children with autism. Using various textured materials, they designed sensory cards that would help enhance learning and engagement for the children. This collaborative effort allowed the team to contribute to a meaningful cause, bringing them closer together while making a positive impact on the lives of the children.

Quiz

The day in Deventer kicked off with a quiz aimed at testing employees’ knowledge of CSR principles and practices. Before the quiz, Clara and Kristiyan gave a presentation with insights into CSR, setting the stage for the activities ahead. The quiz not only served as an educational tool but also energised the atmosphere, with teams enthusiastically competing, demonstrating their understanding of CSR and gaining new insights along the way.

Dance Session

Following the quiz, participants engaged in a dance session to loosen up and energise for the next activities. To bring out the inner child in us, we danced to Daba Die Daba Daa by Kinderen voor Kinderen, a popular group of children from the Netherlands.

Ed Controls Game

The final segment involved participants playing the Ed Controls game in Deventer’s city centre, navigating CSR-themed challenges and tasks. This innovative activity promoted teamwork, strategic thinking, and real-world application of CSR concepts. As teams explored the city, they reinforced the importance of communication and collaboration in achieving CSR goals, using our application: Ed Controls.

Winners

The winners of the Ed Controls game received a special prize. Before setting off through the centre of Deventer, each team had to choose a charity. At the end of the game, the winning team could donate €750 to their chosen charity. The winners chose to donate to the Akshaya Patra fund, which combats classroom hunger and malnutrition in India. In line with Dutchview's ongoing dedication to CSR activities, the company doubled the donation to €1,500.

The Buffer Day was a great success, providing employees with an engaging insight into CSR. By fostering awareness and participation, Dutchview I.T. is contributing to a more sustainable and socially responsible future.
